ASRock Z790I Lightning ITX

LN2 Overclocking on the ASRock Z790I Lightning ITX is possible as shar00750 shows.

This guide will first talk about the LN2 OC capabilities of the Z790I and then about its main intended use: Memory overclocking for daily usecases such as gaming and productifity.

Detailed information about the Z790I can be found on the ASRock page.

CPU & GPU XOC

At this point it should be clear that the Z790I delivers everything needed to do LN2 Overclocking despite beeing an ITX board.

LN2 Overclocking is definitly possible and due to ASRocks easy to use software, identical to the Z690 Aqua OC. Therefore, for anyone needing a guide for XOC on the Z790I the following guide, which was made for the Aqua OC fully applies.

Warning:

Even though the Z790I features a 14+1+1 power phase VRM with 110A SPS power stages heavy multicore benchmarks like Cinebench R23 might not be run continously on the ITX board without giving the VRM time to cool down. The Z790I really shines when it comes to memory and single core LN2 overclocking. However, as ObscureParadox shows, it is definitly possible to have an I9-14900ks run over 7.5GHz Cinebench R20 resulting in a score of 12210 points.

Daily OC Guide

An in-depth memory and cpu overclocking guide can be found in the dedicated overclock.net thread. There CPU and memory overclocking is covered in detail and even questions form non-overclockers will be answered in the forum there. Thus in a ceratain way one even finds a FAQ there.

Instead of covering all the details regarding overclocking again, I will write about my experiences with the Z790I when overclocking a I9-13900k and a random Gskill DDR5 7800Cl38 TridentZ kit.
